Meet Alya 👋

Increasingly concerned about the environment, for the past few years, Alya has taken steps to live a more sustainable lifestyle, by refilling goods at plastic-free stores, making her own skincare from scratch and composting her kitchen waste.

Since she has embarked on her ‘green journey’, Alya has been taking actions to keep on raising awareness towards sustainability – from organising free workshops and holding talks, to creating a neighbourhood chat group to reduce waste & increase sharing amongst neighbours.

Our story

In 2019, I embarked on a green journey to change my individual habits for a better future. But quickly got frustrated.

🤷🏻‍♀️ Why? Because when I started, I wanted to do everything at once.

I did not know where to start, got lost into many resources & videos, got frustrated when seeing so many “perfect zero-waste influencers” and most importantly, felt lonely behind my screen trying to do my best. 😵‍💫

So, after spending countless hours researching online, going to events, meeting new people in this space, and many many conversations with my dear friend Carolin (founder of susGain), I decided to act by sharing my knowledge with other individuals. 💡

It started with webinars & talks on 'Simple Ways to Kickstart you Sustainable Journey in Singapore' to 'Green Yourself' workshops that I organised physically and online with Accueil Singapour and a French Bank in Singapore.

In 2020, I changed neighbourhoods and realised how much people were throwing away valuable items, and thought “why don’t they donate?”. 🧐

Again, I decided to act and created a neighbourhood community WhatsApp group to nudge people into the habit of giving instead of throwing away. 💪

Little did I know that this community would grow so much, with 120+ participants and more than 2,900+ items that have been shared, donated, rescued or borrowed (and eventually saved from landfill). 🥳

In 2021, I realised the power of knowledge sharing, as neighbours got more and more interested into implementing some green habits into their lives. That’s how we ended up organising many knowledge-sharing sessions, from “Composting” workshops, Beach Clean-up events, “Tempe & Kombucha making” sessions, to “Climate Collage” workshops…and many more. 🤗

With the one goal to keep on spreading knowledge & get more individuals start their green journey.

Fast forward to 2022, in Bali, where I created the SustainaBALIty Community, I got to meet many inspirational people and decided to put all my energy into what truly drives me: help people implement sustainable green habits. It is that simple, as we all need to start somewhere.

So today, I am acting again, by bringing to life GreenPush -

a knowledge + community platform to help eco-conscious individuals grow. 🌱
